Things To Do In Bali

Open in 2002, Bali Zoo is the island’s only privately owned zoological park. Wow isn’t it amazing? yes, the park is owned and managed by local Balinese people who work really hard to preserve the dying species and provide them with the best environment, food and amenities they have the right to.  Bali Zoo features 22 acres of lush landscaped gardens, more than 350 exotic animals and a number of unique experiences.  It also showcases a number of quality build habitats including petting area for animals, walks through bird aviaries, Gibbon Islands, and Komodo dragon enclosures and they have recently started an open range for African lion’s den.  An interaction with animals at Bali Zoo is truly a hand on experience.

At Zoo, getting Zoological isn’t just about watching exotic animals in eco-friendly habitats or getting an exposure to the super sensation when a big lion sits next to you, it is also about getting an extensive knowledge about any particular animal which is supplied to you through various beautifully drafted animal shows at the zoo.  At the same time, you may also enjoy feeding and riding elephants, adorable orangutans, Komodo dragon, Sumatran Tigers, African Lions & elephants, beautiful snakes and other reptiles, crocodiles, Binturong and Sun Bears, and big cats etc.

The fun begins the moment you enter Bali Zoo.  Any time is a selfie time. A picture is free when you take it with your own camera or mobile phone, however, for a printed one you would have to pay to the trained photographer there.  Amazing twice daily exotic bird and animal encounter shows where you get a chance to view birds of paradise, pet a lion or tiger cub, baby crocodile and python. You may encounter different animals as they are rotated around.

Some of the top attractions at Bali Zoo include the Jungle Splash Water play, pony rides, Elephant Expedition, Elephant Back Safari, the Treewalk and A Night at the Zoo. If you haven’t ridden an elephant – give it a go. We can best describe it as softly padded, gentle moving, ears flapping, and lightly swinging type of experience. With elephants, you have a sense the elephant is sizing you up and trying to figure you out J

Beginning at a traditional, 100-year-old Sumatran Buffalo house the voyage makes its way through the zoo grounds before venturing outside the park and into a nearby wilderness area crossing the Wos River and visiting a grassy valley and natural waterfall.  Visit an elephant habitat and bathing pool before returning along a picturesque route through the jungle with views of several animal enclosures along the way.

The Treewalk is an adventure in agility, offering an eco-adventure from the bird’s eye view of the tree line. A challenging tree top circuit offers 15 stages of elevated activities including flying foxes, spider nets, flying swings, wooden bridges, Tarzan jumps and more to suit all fitness levels.

A Night at the Zoo is a magical experience unlike anything else, giving visitors the opportunity to see the Zoo’s exotic animals in their natural nocturnal habitats. Beginning with an elephant encounter and hand feeding experience, the night progresses with a photo and petting session of pythons, Borneo bear cats and even the Sumatran Sinyulong freshwater crocodiles. You’ll then be treated to a guided walk through the Zoo, to a dramatic fire dance performance that signals the end of the night with a special al fresco dinner under the stars next to the lion enclosure.
